Bangalore: The mobile advertising market is expected to grow to $5.7 billion by the year 2014. Although the economic slowdown has led to a downward trend in the business, the mobile market is resisting it, states a report by Jupiter Research entitled "Mobile Advertising: Delivery Channels, Business Models, & Forecasts". The reasons for the growth are the fact that the users are always near to the mobile devices, and also because of the always connected nature of the device.

The author of the report, Windsor Holden commented, "Regardless of mobile's advantages - its personal nature, and the facility for highly targeted advertising- the advertising will not commit more budgets until they perceive that the audience for their advertisements has reached a critical mass."
The potential growth in the sector has led to many startups trying to capitalize on the market. Many companies have used the Apple iPhone as a platform which provides the facility of downloading and surfing the internet.
The report also states that the mobile internet will be the most popular technique to deliver the mobile advertisements. As the industry has a huge potential growth, it will only represent the 1.5 percent of the global population spending on the mobile advertising, states the report.
