Bangalore: The growth of mobile industry, especially Smartphones has emerged as a threat to many gadgets on its way including the cameras and laptops. Now the heat is on to console and PC gaming industry as a recent report from MocoSpace shows that gamers prefer playing on their mobiles.

MocoSpace, a gaming community with a network of 25 million users conducted the study among 15000 people in the last month, found that more people are drawn to the mobile gaming platforms. 46 percent of the people played more in their mobiles than the consoles and PC, while 26 percent played more on their consoles and 23 percent on their PCs compared to the last year.

Contradictory to the belief of men dominating the gaming space, women played more consistently. 27 percent of Women over 30 played for more than 3 hours daily, which is double than the percentage of men. The study also showed that mobile gamers are as devoted as the console gamers with 21 percent playing at least 1 hour daily in mobile compared to the 24 percent on the consoles.

According to a similar research from NPD Group, despite the portability of mobiles, 47% of the mobile gamings are performed at home within the vicinity of consoles and PCs which shows the allure of mobile to users and it also puts mobiles in direct competition with gaming consoles.

With mobile gaming having obstacles such as lack of computing power, and console gaming companies like Sony and Nintendo introducing their innovative products, the time is not yet here for consoles to disappear entirely but still, mobiles are growing as an alternative to PC and console gaming.
