Microsoft unveils Windows Phone 7.1

Bangalore: In an effort to regain its share in the Smartphone market, Microsoft has officially announced the latest version of its Windows Phone operating system, also known as "Mango." The latest release from the Redmond company known as Windows Phone 7.1 features several upgrades to its user interface mainly focusing on improving the communications and Internet experience. The free update which features more than 500 is expected to use its existing users in the fall. 'Threads' for messaging, email and Windows Live Messenger, Facebook, deeper integration with social networks and hands free messaging are some of the new features offered with this update. The software giant also announced that it the improved inbuilt Office app will now provide a desktop class experience and corporate customers will be given access to Office 365 on a subscription basis. It also integrates a version of Internet Explorer 9 that supports HTML 5 and full hardware acceleration. Local Scout, an additional feature, will provide hyper-local search results.
