Microsoft to cut networking tool price for SMEs

BLOOMBERG: Microsoft Corporation announced that it will sell a package of networking software at 20 percent off the regular price to encourage sales to companies with 50 to 250 employees. Steven VanRoekel, Microsoft Director, informed that Microsoft is packaging software sold separately into the Windows Server system for a mid-size companies and cutting the price to $6,400. It includes Windows Server for networks, the Exchange e-mail server and Microsoft Operations Manager to monitor networks, he added. Microsoft estimates that selling software to the 1.2 million mid-size companies globally is a $231 billion industry. John Lauer, Vice president for mid-market companies, Microsoft, expressed that most of those companies have limited staff and budgets to maintain computers and software and find it difficult to set up and combine Microsoft’s various server software programs.
