Microsoft grants $250 K to Hyderabad IIIT

NEW DELHI: Microsoft Corporation India has made a grant of $250,000 to the Hyderabad-based International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) for research initiatives. This grant will be used to set up a Microsoft Chair at IIIT and is part of a MoU signed earlier between IIIT and Microsoft, a Microsoft release said. Professor V Umapathi Reddy has been selected for the Chair and will undertake research in wireless communications for a period of five years. "This grant will strengthen our relationship with Microsoft", IIIT director, Rajiv Sangal said. "This grant is in sync with our belief and will contribute towards boosting research in the country", said Microsoft India MD, Rajiv Kaul. The MoU with IIIT is part of Microsoft's University Relations Programme.
