Bangalore: Despite the fact that both Microsoft and Facebook built powerful platforms to attract developers, Mark Zuckerberg doesn’t find anything ‘special’ in Microsoft, to make it one of his admired companies.

In a recent interview with Wall Street Journal, Zuckerberg had enlisted his admired companies including Amazon, Apple and Google. But Microsoft, having an investment and operational tie up with Facebook was nowhere in his list.

Zuckerberg said, “Amazon is a great example of focusing on the long term and accepting shorter margins on the short term. Jeff (Amazon CEO) went through years of others thinking he’s crazy. Apple is amazing in terms of the quality of stuff that they do. And Google, too, for the same thing”.

Microsoft currently has a market value of around $237 billion. But it is still struggling to get a hold in tablet, cloud and mobile markets. According to a recent poll conducted by CNN on favorite public companies among technology experts, Microsoft was nowhere in the list which is lead by Apple followed by Google, Amazon and IBM.

With Facebook gearing up for the IPO in 2012, hoping to complete a public offering at a valuation of at least $100 billion, many people look forward to Facebook, Amazon, Apple and Google as the main competitors in the coming years.
