Alcatel India appoints Ravi Sharma as new MD

BANGALORE: Ravi Sharma will be the new Managing Director of Alcatel India and he will also be heading the company as the Country Senior Officer (CSO) for Alcatels India and Nepal operations from January 2003. He will replace Michel Vetil who is retiring from the company.
Till recently, Ravi Sharma, 40, was Regional Director of London-based satellite operator Europe*Star, a joint venture of Alcatel. Prior to that he had occupied important positions in various companies including British Telecom as founder team member of its operations in India.
Active in India for more than two decades, Alcatel is a provider of end-to-end telecommunications and Internet based solutions to its customers in the public as well as private sector.
It started its Indian operations by forging a strong relationship with ITI Ltd, through transfer of technology. Alcatel is the leader in the digital switching equipment market in India with over half of Indias fixed line services powered by its technology.
