Meet on latest technologies for delivering news

NEW DELHI: The fastest and sleekest technologies to deliver news will be the highlight of an international meet in the Indian capital Wednesday. Newsrooms Tech India 2003 is being organised by Exhibitions India Private Limited at the Le Meridien hotel and co-sponsored by the information and broadcasting ministry. The conference will focus on the latest hi-tech developments in the delivery of news through electronic channels, evaluate the technologies and explore solutions to improve the final product. Speakers from leading newsroom equipment makers, vendors and software solution providers will take part in the meet. Seven international speakers, including those from the U.S., Britain, Canada and Asia Pacific nations, will be present at the conference. Among them will be Karlton Burn, managing director of Leitech, U.S.; Lain Wood, sales manager of Omnibus Systems Ltd, Britain; and Anthony Prangley, Associated Press, Britain. The 10 domestic speakers will include K.S. Sarma, CEO of Prasar Bharti Corporation; R.S. Chauhan, vice president, engineering and operations, Sahara India TV Network; Y.P. Singh, vice president, technical, Zee News; and Vynsley Fernandes, director of operations, STAR News. The conference will discuss key issues like newsroom system installations. New trends in newsgathering and convergence newsrooms, highlighting digital architectures in newsroom environments, will be discussed. STAR News, a leading news channel in India, will be co-hosting the event.
