THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Global consultancy major McKinsey & Company is setting up shop next month in the sprawling campus of Kerala's Technopark. "Negotiations with McKinsey began eight months back and their officials were here for follow up discussions on more than one occasion. The final agreement will be signed in the first week of March," a top government official told IANS. Officials from the firm will arrive in Kerala early next month to finalise the agreement on coming to Technopark, located on the outskirts of this city. One reason why the deal was kept a closely guarded secret was reportedly because Kerala authorities did not want other states to try and woo McKinsey away. McKinsey's base at Technopark will be their 83rd worldwide. The firm, set up in 1926, has offices in 44 countries and serves two thirds of Fortune 1000 companies. New Delhi already has a McKinsey office, and reports indicate that the Technopark base will be a huge one. "The investment here would be substantial and jobs would be there in plenty for the taking," said the government official. Kerala's Technopark houses 60 firms in a space of 800,000 square feet. These companies employ around 1,500 IT professionals. Leading corporates like Alliance Cornhill and Ernst & Young have recently opened offices at Technopark.
