McAfee, ScanSafe and Qualys lead in Saas security

Bangalore: McAfee, ScanSafe and Qualys are the leading security providers for Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) from a brand awareness perspective, according to Infonetics Research Enterprise Acceptance of SaaS: End-User Survey. This report is a part of Network Security Continuous Research Service (CRS) conducted by Infonetics. The survey provides a strategic overview of end-user plans, drivers and barriers to deploying SaaS as a security solution and ratings of five SaaS vendors: Cisco, Google/Postini, Qualys, ScanSafe, and zScaler.
"Many companies who move to SaaS (or other forms of managed services) do so because it provides them access to better technology than they could purchase in product form. In addition, going with a service model ensures their technology stays updated. This leads to stronger security deployments overall, and for 81 percent of our security SaaS survey respondents, that's a key driver for moving to SaaS," said Jeff Wilson, Infonetics Research's Principal Analyst for Network Security.
Infonetics' security SaaS survey has provided strategic recommendations for SaaS vendors. It also has reported on insights into companies and their plans to deploy security SaaS solutions, including security budget plans, aided brand awareness ratings and a vendor scorecard. The report also states that 82 percent of the respondent companies would rather expand their existing security deployments with a SaaS solution rather than replacing it.
Infonetics has provided rating of Cisco, Google/Postini, Qualys, ScanSafe and zScaler on eight criteria: technology, product roadmap, management, price-to-performance ratio (value), pricing, security, service and support and financial stability. People who were surveyed for this report include a panel of qualified IT decision-makers at 120 small, medium and large companies. They were surveyed in July 2009 on their plans to deploy software-as-a-service solutions for IT security.
