New Delhi: Real estate developer Uppal group has signed an agreement with global hotel chain Marriott International to develop and own a five-star hotel sporting the Marriott brand in Gurgaon, adjacent to the national capital. The hotel, JW Marriott hotel, will require an investment of around 3.25 billion and will be spread over 12.5 acres off the national highway 8. It will have 210 luxury rooms, designed by Singapore-based SCDA Architects. As a part of the agreement, the Uppal group, based here, will develop and own the hotel, while the day-to-day operations will be managed by Marriott International. "The announcement is in line with our long-term plan to strengthen our foray in hospitality business," said Uppal group managing director Manish Uppal. "This development will cater to the increasing demand for hotel rooms in NCR region." The hotel will be in the close vicinity of Delhi airport and is likely to be completed by September next year. Marriott's international lodging division president and managing director Ed Fuller said his company was looking forward to expansion of the Gurgaon hotel in future.
