Marlabs India to hire 400 people in core services
Bangalore: For IT companies, running the business has now become like floundering through a boggy land with knee deep mud in it. Many have already started panting terribly, as is reflected in the cost cutting measures taken by them in the form of layoffs and salary cuts. But there are odd men out who have survived the storm like IT services firm Marlabs, which is hiring about 400 people in the next two quarters for its India operations. Total head count of the company today is 1750 globally. The new recruitment is in the areas of Application Development and Maintenance, Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing, Independent Verification & Validation and Database, and ERP Support. The company boasts of clients in the Healthcare, Legal Services, Life Sciences and Airline Services domains. The company seems to be hardly touched by the current down-turn. "Thanks to the customer service orientation that the entire organization has displayed and the persistent efforts of our Sales people back in the U.S., we have been able to add more customers into its fold translating more offshore projects to India. Marlabs has 100 percent resource utilization and the bench is non-existent. We are in constant requirement of new talent as more are more projects are being off shored to India," said Vignesh Hebbar, Associate VP, Marlabs India. Hebbar however is well aware of the competition the company is facing from all over the world. All our offshore projects are being executed for our customers in the U.S. Any Large and Mid-Sized IT services organization with their presence in the U.S. can be considered as a competitor. "In the recent past we have bid for several offshore projects in the U.S. with some of the large IT services companies from India in the foray," he says. Though the company is based in the U.S., Marlabs is not at all apprehensive about proposed changes in U.S. tax law. "These so called tax plan is only a proposal yet to be passed by the Congress. Even if they are approved and passed, Marlabs will not be affected as these tax plans target companies that specifically have tax havens located subsidiaries and postponed repatriation of income to their parent companies in the U.S. Marlabs does not have this structure," says Hebbar. Globally, Marlabs is targeting revenue of $ 125 Million for the current Fiscal, compared to the $100 million recorded last fiscal. Marlabs India is a wholly owned subsidiary of Marlabs, U.S. and has been operational since 2000. The company provides software and KPO services that improve operational efficiency and help customers gain competitive advantage.
