Markets close in green, Sensex gains 140 points

Mumbai: Indian equities markets closed in the green Tuesday, with a key index gaining 1.47 percent over its previous close. The 30-scrip Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) sensitive index (Sensex), which opened at 9,633.21 points, rose 140.36 points or 1.47 percent to close at 9,708.50 points (provisional). Similarly, the S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) gained 1.44 percent from its last close to end trade at 3,020.95 points. The BSE midcap index gained 2.27 percent, while the BSE smallcap index was up 1.46 percent.
