Manufacturing growth increased to 9.2 percent

DELHI: Comparing to the last year’s performance the manufacturing sector has done bettering the present fiscal year, instead of poor result from the electricity, gas and water supply. The Central Statistical Organization, in its revised estimation of national income, has reported a growth of 9.2 percent in the manufacturing sector, against the 8.2 percent as per the earlier released estimation. A GDP growth estimate at 6.9percent has not reported any change from the advance estimate level. The revised estimates of GDP released — first revision of GDP figures for the previous financial year — has lowered projections for growth of the mining and quarrying to 4.5percent from 5.3 percent and for electricity, gas and water supply to 5.5percent from 6.3percent. The growth of agriculture sector at 1.1percent has been changed from the advance estimate level. GDP at factor cost at constant 1993-94 prices for ’04-05 was estimated at as against Rs 152.9 trillion in the advance estimates. At current prices, the GDP at factor prices was estimated to be Rs 283 trillion, up 12.3 percent over the quick estimates for the previous year. The net national product (NNP) for the year at factor cost-better known as national income-was estimated at Rs 135.4 trillion constant 1993-94 prices as compared to Rs 135.4 trillion in advance estimates, and Rs 126.6 trillion in the quick estimates for the 2003-04. The national income grew 7 percent in the year 2004-05 compared to 9 percent in 2003-04.
