New York: Mallika Dutt, President and CEO of Breakthrough: Bring Human Rights Home, will receive the Caring for Children Award by the Coalition for Asian American Children and Families (CACF) at the 2010 Caring for Children Awards Benefit Reception at The Prince George Ballroom, in New York. Mallika Dutt has been honored by the organization for some ground breaking work in advancing human rights as a global leader and in integrating innovative looms with multimedia arts and culture to social justice campaigns. Mallika Dutt will be honored along with Nancy Eng, Ph.D., associate professor at CUNY Hunter College, and Carol Enseki, former president of The Brooklyn Children's Museum. The award will be presented to Dutt by Cindy Hsu, an Emmy Award winning anchor and reporter for CBS 2 News, and Alan Muraoka, most recognizable for his role in the Emmy Award winning series, 'Sesame Street'. Mallika Dutt has been a longtime advocate for women's and children's rights, serving to uphold and ensure the safety and well-being of Asian Pacific American families. As the president and CEO of Breakthrough, she has envisaged and led Breakthrough's award-winning campaigns on violence against women and immigration reform that have extended to millions. She has amplified the project of bringing human rights home through radical and implausible partnerships, ranging from grassroots community organizations to the entertainment industry. Prior to founding Breakthrough, Mallika Dutt served as Program Officer for Human Rights at the Ford Foundation's New Delhi office. She is a co-founder of SAKHI for South Asian Women and has served on several boards and committees, including the Human Rights Watch Women's Rights Project and Asia Watch, The Sister Fund, Asian American Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy, and U.S. NGO Coordinating Committee for the U.N. World Conference against Racism. "We are delighted to recognize Mallika among this year's group of inspiring honorees. Mallika, Nancy, and Carol have all dedicated their lives to supporting children and families and to promoting rights and access to services. We are proud to recognize their achievements at our largest fundraiser of the year. Their important work empowers our communities to become active agents of positive change." says Wayne Ho, Executive Director of CACF. Mallika is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and currently serves on Boards of WITNESS, the Open Society Institute US Programs, and Games for Change, and on the Rights Working Group Steering Committee
