Major fire at Bombay House, 3 dead

Mumbai: A major fire broke out on today morning in the 'Bombay House' building in South Mumbai where offices of the Tata Group are located. The fire was reported from the ground floor of the building, fire brigade sources said. Ten fire engines and four tankers have been rushed to the spot, the sources said. Bombay House is an historic privately owned building in Mumbai that serves as the head office of Tata Group. Situated near Flora Fountain it was completed in 1924. It has been the Tata Group's headquarters ever since. The building is a four-story colonial structure built with Malad stone, and was designed by architect George Wittet, who later became the head of Tata Engineering Company Limited. It has been known that three people were killed in the fire and several others trapped inside the building.
