Mahindra Satyam to recruit 9000 employees
Hyderabad: Back in the hiring market, Mahindra Satyam, earlier known as Satyam Computer Services announced that it will hire 9000 employees over the next 18 months. Unfortunately, due to the multicrore accounting scandal that had taken place in the year 2008, the headcount of Satyam which was over 50,000 before including its subsidiaries reduced significantly. The staff was reduced by about 10,000 employees due to a virtual pool programme that was initiated by Tech Mahindra. With an employee number that crosses 28,000 on rolls, the company is trying to shoot up the utilization levels in the coming quarters so that maximum number of employees are taken off the bench. Mahindra Satyam admits that they have gained just nine clients in the past six months. A remarkable reduction in the company's attrition levels has also been noticed and company is also taking measures to retain its employees by increasing their salaries. In the words of C.P.Gurnani, CEO, Mahindra Satyam,"We have gone through rightsizing earlier, but would be hiring in two levels now. As for the next financial year, we would need about 5,000 people, while for the next six months (of the current financial year 2010-11), we require over 2,000 to 4,000 employees. We are building facilities in Chennai, Hyderabad and other locations and are also investing in technology and competencies." According to the recent statistics, the mass recruiters are on a hiring spree as well wherein companies like TCS, Wipro and Infosys have decided to add 25,000, 7500 and 13,000 freshers, respectively to their payrolls.
