BANGALORE: MRO-TEK today announced the commencement of its US operations with the opening of its sales and marketing office in San Jose, California. The setting up of US office is prelude to 16 flavors of Metro Access products that the company would be launching from its R & D division for commercial deployment starting this month. The products will be manufactured in its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Electronic City, Bangalore. MRO-TEK marketing strategy is to position these products as world-class high performance and economically viable, in the global market. The initial focus will be on building relationships with the global telecom service providers and enterprises. S Naranayan, chairman and managing director, said, "Our efforts to enter the global market commenced 18 months back with setting up of our R & D center. We have developed next generation Metro Access products, which addresses the needs and challenges of delivering measurable, QOS and SLA across the network." Ashok Madanahalli has come on board of MRO-TEK as Vice President Marketing, USA. He has more than 13 years of worldwide industry experience in TCP/IP and data networking having worked at Retix, Fore systems and Extreme Networks in the areas of product development, product management and marketing to carriers. The company's export earning for the year 2002-2003 was 3.6 crores. "We believe with these products introduced, exports will contribute significantly to our earnings and boost our bottom line growth ratio." said Narayanan. As part of its global strategy MRO-TEK will enter Asia-Pacific, North America, Japan and EMEA markets. The focus would be on targeting ISP, BSP and Enterprise companies in these regions. C S Ramakrishnan, VP - Marketing, said, "We felt the need to build custom designed products for our Indian market where unique product features and lower costs are of primary importance. MRO-TEK invested in the R&D activity starting last year to deliver to the growing Indian Data Communication market. Now we see that the same business logics apply elsewhere in developed countries." Ashok Madanahalli, VP - Marketing (USA), said, "Changing Global markets and economic situations gives out a message that, while demand for data communications services is increasing, and the subscriber base is growing rapidly, the profitability is actually diminishing or not there. So the cost of equipment, cost of deployment and the cost of maintaining the equipment is under scrutiny not only by the carriers but also by the vendor community. We see this as an inflection point, that is giving an opportunity for innovation to deliver globally marketable products."
