MAC 2010, enlightens techies on mobile apps development

Bangalore: Mobile apps have brought the world to our fingertips and promise a revolution in communication. The mobile app market is thriving. It is expected to touch the $17.5 billion mark by 2012 and there will be 50 billion downloads per year. Hundreds of handsets are capable of installing and running apps, and a slew of big-name app stores are striving to compete.
The excitement around mobile applications is going to have a major impact on our economy, and our way of life. For the people who are interested in mobile app development, which is going to explode over the coming years, SiliconIndia Mobile Applications Conference was the right platform, which explored the new opportunities that are emerging within mobile space.

Because of the revolution in original design manufacturing, devices and applications can be created at a very low cost, without any sort of compromise with the quality," said Shekhar Kirani, Vice President, VeriSign India and Angel Investor.
The full day conference offered a platform for the mobile app startups to showcase their killer-apps. Around 20 startups displayed the cool applications that they have developed. The companies showcased their products include CatchOn, Divum, Ennovasys, Experion Technology, GeniusPort, Interworld Commnet, Latichya Software Systems, Permeative Technologies, Pyrumas Software, Softtrends, SMS160, SoremiAlert, Trignon, The India Market, United Mobile apps, Vernalis Systems and WIN IT. A panel of five judges selected Permeative Technologies, a Bangalore based startup, for the best mobile app award.
"It was an exciting platform for the developers to participate in the application contest with the unique creation that works on mobile devices, a good networking platform to know each other, and listen to the expert to understand the changing trends" said DP Samantarai, one of the participants.
