Luxembourg envoy woos Indian industrialists

CHANDIGARH: Luxembourg's ambassador Thursday wooed Indian industrialists to invest in the small European country, and highlighted the scope for cooperation in engineering, financial services and entertainment. Ambassador Paul Steinmetz said, "Luxembourg is an ideal business partner for Indian industries. It is one of Europe's highest performing economies." Steinmetz was making a presentation on business opportunities in his country at a meeting in this twin capital of Punjab and Haryana organised by the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI). He said, "Luxembourg is among the world's top countries in terms of competitiveness with sound economic fundamentals, outstanding international rankings, diversified foreign trade and a very stable business environment." The ambassador highlighted priority areas for business synergy between the two sides, including steel, manufacturing, especially automobile components, financial services, Luxembourg-India cargo flights, satellite television and the shooting of films. PHDCCI international affairs committee chairman Satish Bagrodia said Luxembourg, situated in western Europe and surrounded by Germany, Belgium and France, had one of the highest per capita incomes.
