New Delhi: German flagship carrier Lufthansa Wednesday announced an all-business flight linking Pune and Munich from next month. Lufthansa's South Asia director Warner Heesen told reporters the airline, after enhancing its bilateral air traffic rights from 50 to 69 flights a week, was eagerly looking forward to increase flights to India. The airline recently signed an air traffic agreement with India. India and Germany are expected to meet early next year for another round of talks and review their air traffic agreement. Heesen saw high potential for the Pune-Munich flight. ?There is huge stake of German firms in India and most of them have their offices at Pune in the state of Maharashtra. "We have German companies in the IT, pharma and automobile sectors based in Maharashtra and neighbouring Gujarat." Heesen said the airline had plans to increase its business from India in the next three years. ?We are also looking to operate to destinations like Cochin and Goa,? he said. He said the 45 frequencies operated till March this year would increase to 55 from July 1 and 10 more to be added by this winter. The airline now operates to Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Kolkata and Chennai. Since last month, Lufthansa has added four flights a week between Mumbai and Munich, taking the total weekly flights to 10. It has also increased flights to Kolkata from three to five.
