Bangalore: It takes a lot to care for pets because they too are living beings and require love and affection like us. Caring for pets is a full-time job but it is difficult to care for them when we run short of time to groom ourselves in this hectic world. Pets give us peace of mind, love and affection and we should reciprocate these emotions too. But in this world driven by the term ‘instant,’ our requirements of pets need to be updated too. Thankfully, there are some animals which do not require 24x7 of monitoring and attention. So, here are some low maintenance pets, which are ideal for our hyper lives –

1) Bantam Chickens –

Bantam Chickens are adorable fluffy chickens and are a delight to watch. But more importantly, these are easy-to-care for pets. Though it might be a bit odd to have chickens in an apartment, these animals are quite easy to care for in houses with decent sized gardens. These chickens are quite happy and contented in the garden and need not be looked after for long. These, however, need to be caged during night-time as rodents and other nocturnal animals prefer chickens just like most people do. Bantam Chickens are smaller than regular chickens and so go easy on the space required by them. If one doesn’t over-crowd the chicken-coop, these chickens do not tax our olfactory bulbs as well. They are not fussy about their diet either. These fur-coat wearing ladies are not loud like their male counter-parts and so neighbours won’t be mad at them. Also, these ladies are not aggressive like the roosters of their kind. They are relatively less costly than other varieties of chickens. One must, however, buy them from reputed pet stores only as some might have been procured illegally. Also, make sure that your city does not have any law against such animals. Plus, an added advantage of having these chickens is, of course, the fact that these animals lay eggs. So, have sunny mornings with these beauties.
