BANGALORE: Anglo-Dutch financial and telecom software major LogicaCMG will hire more than 1000 people in India this year as part of its offshore and South Asia operations. The company is currently looking at hiking its staff to over 2200 from the present 1200. Announcing this, Martin Read, LogicaCMG Group Chief Executive said ‘India is the fastest growing operations of LogicaCMG worldwide and will be the third largest operation by headcount after the UK and Netherlands by the end of 2005’. ‘As India is going up the value chain, India will take up the development of more critical software and hence we will recruit more people for our operations here’, Read said. LogicaCMG has also inaugurated its new facility ‘Technopolis’ near here where all its work spread across Bangalore will be based. LogicaCMGs Bangalore operations are the primary offshore development facility for the group. The company’s outsourcing business represented about a quarter of group revenues in 2004 and it plans to increase this to 30 percent during 2005’, Read said. Read also said the company wanted to diversify more into BPO services based on customers preferences but said not all BPO work will be off shored to India. Speaking about acquiring Indian companies, Read said ‘we are not a company that is gung ho on acquisition; we want to be at the place by growing on our own.’
