Bangalore: LifeSize Communications, a provider of high definition video communications products has opened an expanded engineering design center in Bangalore. The facility more than triples the company's investment in India. An integral part of the company's extensive research, development and engineering operation, the LifeSize Bangalore design center is responsible for software development for the company's award-winning HD video conferencing and telepresence products.
"Our new and expanded engineering design center reflects the tremendous contribution the LifeSize team in India has made to our company's success, and our commitment to having the facilities to support future growth and exciting new products," said Craig Malloy, CEO, LifeSize Communications. "LifeSize is committed to India, a dynamic country with a wealth of engineering talent and customers at the leading edge of video communication," he added.
LifeSize established the design center in Bangalore in August 2006 to focus on software development for the rapidly-growing company. Today, the design center produces the software that drives the company's video conferencing systems, video system management software and infrastructure products. About 30 LifeSize engineers in Bangalore use the company's telepresence products to collaborate closely with their colleagues in Austin, Texas. The LifeSize Bangalore design center was named among the top 25 "Best Places to Work" in India by The Smart Techie magazine.
LifeSize believes India's success in the global technology industry make it an ideal market for high-definition videoconferencing. Experts view the early adoption of leading-edge telecommunications technologies by forward-looking entrepreneurs as a key factor in India's impressive growth, enabling the country's skilled workforce to compete globally. Interest in HD video for government and enterprise use within the country has surged as the India economy has grown.
