Launch of SKF's Application Development Center

BANGALORE: Tom Johnstone, SKF Group President & CEO and Rakesh Makhija, Managing Director, SKF India launched SKF Application Development Center for two–wheelers and automotive market, at a event held in Bangalore . The event saw the likes of eminent dignitaries like P.G.R. Sindhia, Minister for Industries, Karnataka, Inga Eriksson Fogh, Ambassador of Sweden and. Giuseppe Donato, Chairman RIV-SKF S.p.A, President Electrical Division. The applications development Center is an endeavor by SKF, a technology and solutions provider of bearings, seals, related products, systems and services to showcase its knowledge base & relevant vertical specific technological expertise to its consumers. India is a high growth area for two-wheeler and automotive segment. Bangalore being the IT hub of the country, SKF decided to set up an Application Development Center here, to bring engineering solutions closer to its customers. The launch of this state-of-the-art center was followed by a factory visit. It gave an insight into the kind of technological expertise & global standards that are followed at the SKF Application Development Center. Speaking on the occasion, Johnstone said, “Out of the 24 million two – wheelers produced globally every year, 20 million come from Asia. This almost amounts to 83% of the total production. With this centre, SKF aims to strengthen its role as a global partner to its customers in all segments of the Industry as well as its commitment to the Asian Market and India in particular. At SKF, we are committed to preempting customers’ requirement in a rapidly changing technological environment”.
