New Delhi: Engineering and construction major Larsen and Toubro Wednesday said it would wait for an opportune time to sell its holding in Satyam Mahindra, formerly Satyam Computer Services, even if the markets regulator waives the lock-in period on the shares. The lock-in period had been fixed because of a competitive bidding process for a controlling stake in the scam-hit IT major. "We haven't got any answer from the regulator. Even if we have the approval, we may not sell it right away. The share is doing good, why not make some money on it," L&T chairman A.M. Naik told reporters here. Naik also said the sale could end up attracting capital gains tax, if the company sold the stake within a year. "There is tax issue as well. We will have to see if we will have to pay capital gains tax," said Naik. L&T, in the run up to the competitive bidding process for a 51 percent stake in Satyam, had bought 6.9 percent of the total equity of the Hyderabad-based IT major.
