MUMBAI: Engineering and construction major Larsen and Toubro said Tuesday it had bagged a $52.5 million contract from United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based Bunduq Company Limited (BCL). BCL awarded the order to Larsen and Toubro to "engineer, procure, construct and install" a platform in the El Bunduq field near the boundary between UAE and Qatar. United Petroleum Development Company, BP Exploration, and TotalFinaElf jointly hold stakes in BCL. The platform, with facilities for compressing and injecting gas, will be completed in 18 months, said a statement issued by Mumbai-based Larsen and Toubro. "The composite single deck gas injection platform would be bridge linked to an existing gas sweetening platform," it said. "The 1,900 metric tonne topside would house all the equipment and other miscellaneous facilities for maintenance and operation of the plant and equipment," the statement added. L&T had recently bagged contracts from UAE, Qatar, Tanzania, Kuwait, Sri Lanka and Oman.
