LG to invest $18 M in India for setting up compressor plant

NEW DELHI: LG Electronics on Tuesday announced $18 million investment in setting up a compressor plant at Greater Noida with 1.5 million unit installed capacity. The company will manufacture reciprocating compressors at this plant, which comprises motor winding, assembly line, oil charging, vacuumisation, paint shop and machine shop units, LGEIL said in a statement in New Delhi. The new facility will manufacture three different models of CFC-free compressors in the `MA' series with cooling capacity rating 99Kcal- 300Kcal applicable up to 320 litre refrigerators. LG said it will shortly be launching compressors to cover commercial refrigeration applications such as bottle cooker, visi cooler, deep freezer, chest collers, chocolate and ice-cream collers. The company recently announced its second green-field facility at Pune which manufactures colour televisions, air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, microwave ovens and colour monitors.
