Kotak appoints Hasan Askari as advisor

Mumbai: Banking and finance services major Kotak Mahindra group Monday appointed Hasan Askari as advisor to help expand its global operations. An investment banker since 1975, Askari will be based in Europe and will monitor Kotak's teams both in India and international locations. Kotak Mahindra Bank vice-chairman and managing director Uday Kotak said: ?This appointment reflects our commitment to play a more prominent role in the global arena. We look forward to work closely with Hasan as we actively seek to expand our group internationally." Askari was earlier a member of the executive committee at Old Mutual plc. He holds a degree from the University of Oxford. He began his investment banking career with S.G. Warburg & Co. Ltd., London, (now UBS Ltd.) and has since worked at J.P. Morgan Chase and Barclays Capital. Askari has been a trustee of both the British Museum and the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London. He is also a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society, London.
