Knowledge Utsav promotes R&D activities in India

Bangalore: As an attempt to promote the R&D activities in the country, Edu.In, Tumkur University and Jain Research Foundation conducted Knowledge Utsav, an initiative to promote R&D in different sectors, held recently in Bangalore.
While inaugurating the conference, M.V.Rajasekharan, the former Union Minister of State for Planning and MLC, stressed the importance of collaborative efforts to promote R&D in the country as it was lagging behind the western world. "The industry has to engage the universities at different levels of research and be liberal in funding R&D efforts. Universities in the western world have been the platforms for research for various industries and they have been mutually beneficial," he added.
In an attempt to encourage the youth to take up research as a mainstream career, Dr R Chenraj Jain, Chairman of Jain Group of Institutions said: "We need to urge the youth to develop the spirit of enquiry. Conferences such as these provide a platform to those interested in the area."
About 165 institutions from nine States and over 2,000 delegates including from companies such as Microsoft, Adobe, Intel, IBM, HAL, Kirloskar and Orcale participated in the one day conference. 465 papers presented across 44 different disciplines in the Knowledge Utsav, which has committed itself to play catalyst and bridge the gap between academia and industry..
The conference aimed to bring together the scientists and researchers working in the various sectors such as Defence, Space, Civil Aviation, Information Technology, Engineering, Management, Humanities, Nanotechnology, Bio-technology, Robotics, Green Technology, Energy, Social Science and bring out the advances made in the country in these sectors.
