Kiran Patel appointed to BEA Board

New York: BEA Systems, a Californian software firm has appointed Kiran Patel in its board of directors. Kiran Patel, 58, presently holds the senior vice president and chief financial officer (CFO) position in Intuit Inc., was roped into the BEA board for his deep and extensive understanding of the software industry. Alfred Chuang, chairman and chief executive officer of BEA Systems said, "Kiran is a respected and established industry veteran whose extensive business development, financial and operating experience will be a tremendous asset for the company as we continue to focus on our financial performance for sustainable, profitable growth." BEA is best known for products like WebLogic Server, WebLogic Workshop, WebLogic Portal, JRockit and Tuxedo in the computer industry. Patel is a certified public accountant and holds a master's degree in business administration and a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering from the University of Tennessee, according to a company press release. "BEA's combination of business leadership, market execution and customer momentum is compelling," said Patel. "I am excited to join such a solid company, so well-positioned for the next wave of innovation."
