THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Kerala government Thursday called a meeting with leftist youth organisations to build consensus ahead of the Global Investors Meet to be held at Kochi in January. Industries Minister P.K. Kunjalikutty met representatives of the Democratic Youth Federation of India and the Youth Front among others who had warned of an agitation unless the government displayed more transparency on what it expected from the investors meet. He told reporters later that while there was consensus on the need to create more jobs, there were differences on the manner in which this should be done. "Several leaders who attended the meeting asked the government not to blindly go for industrialisation because the traditional sectors also had to be taken into account. "They demanded transparency in the government's actions," the minister said. "We are going to have one more round of talks with them and also at the chief minister's level. We are soon going to call a meeting of all political parties asking for their support," said Kunjalikutty.
