New Delhi: An unidentified man Tuesday slapped and hit Commonwealth Games Organising Committee former chief Suresh Kalmadi with a slipper at the Patiala House court here. Kalmadi, who was arrested Monday in connection with alleged irregularities in the granting of contracts for the Games, spent the night in a Central Bureau of Investigation lockup. As the Congress MP was walking to the court, a man, later identified as Kapil Thakur, first tried to break the police cordon and, when he failed, chucked a slipper. Kalmadi looked a bit taken aback, but was immediately rushed into the courtroom by escorting policemen. Thakur, wearing a T-shirt, was whisked away to the Tilak Marg police station. Police officials said they were questioning him. "He is unemployed and belongs to Madhya Pradesh," the official said.
