Juniper to buy enterprise WLAN provider Trapeze for $152 Million

Bangalore: In its bid to give competition to Cisco, Juniper Networks is strengthening its arsenal. The company announced it is all set to acquire Trapeze Networks, the enterprise wireless local area network (WLAN) systems and management software unit of Belden, for an amount of $152 million in cash. As per analysts, Juniper will be upfront against Cisco in the networking equipment market following this acquisition. Trapeze, founded in 2002, is a California-based wireless LAN solution provider. Its Smart Mobile WLAN solution overcomes the performance and scalability limitations of wireless LANs by supporting both centralized and distributed data forwarding, together with a wealth of load balancing and performance optimizations. With over 4,000 customers, direct and OEM-end user, globally that covers various demographics like schools, government agencies and hospitals, Trapeze sure will prove to be a good move from Juniper. It will give Juniper a heads up in this field, thereby making it more equipped to take on competitors.
