RANCHI: The Jharkhand government Wednesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with an American company to set up a 1,000-MW power plant at a cost of Rs50 billion. The Jharkhand power department signed the pact with Eastern Energy Ltd (EEL), a US-based company. The EEL will set up four power plants with a capacity 250 MW each at Patratu, about 45 km from here. The Jharkhand State Electricity Regulatory Authority will decide the price of per unit power. "The government will provide land, water and other infrastructure to the company to set up the thermal power plants," said Power Secretary Sudhir Tripathi.
