Mumbai: After putting pressure over 1,900 employees to leave the company, Jet Airways turned for an unexpected decision calling back all the employees. Jet Airways Chairman Naresh Goyal apologized for the move of the management who gave pink slip to over one thousand employees and has asked them to restart the work by Friday. Over the management decision, Goyal said, "The management might not like my decision but sometimes there are disagreements within the family and as the head of the family, I am taking this decision." He called it as the most emotional moment of his life. "I am mentally disturbed with all this and I will not be able to live (like this) as long as I live my life," he said. Pointing that the management took this decision due to the bad economic condition of the industry, he said he didn't even know the number of sacked employees as he was out of station. "The management had worked out an equation based only on arithmetic. But my conscience does not allow me to look at economics alone," he pointed out. He denied any political pressure behind the change and it was purely personal. He also mentioned that the sacking had nothing to do with Kingfisher alliance. "The alliance with Kingfisher is a synergy and a separate issue. A steering group has been constituted to work out rationalization of routes and other things," he added. "Cost-cutting would have to be done, but reducing staff wouldn't make such an impact," he further added. The sacked employees welcomed the Goyal's move.
