NEW DELHI: Japan wants to further develop its relationship with India to realise a bilateral agreement to establish a "global partnership," Japanese Foreign Minister Yoriko Kawaguchi has said. Kawaguchi, in a congratulatory message to his Indian counterpart K. Natwar Singh on his assumption of office, said Japan and India have a significant role to play in shaping the future of Asia and beyond. "Japan and India have long been building a strong and close relationship with each other, based upon our historical and cultural ties and shared values such as democracy and market economy," she said in the message, a copy of which was released by the Japanese embassy Wednesday.
