Jammu: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has cleared a proposal to give laptops to all the legislators of the state. The laptops will enable the legislators to check records of their constituencies at any time and at any place, an official said. "This is a move that has been mooted by the Chief Minister," he added. The Chief Minister and his aides carry laptops and use them to stay updated on issues such as electricity requirement to road connectivity to villages. There are 89 legislators in the assembly (87 elected and two nominated) and 30 in the legislative council. Six seats are vacant. An official said that the legislators may get laptops before Feb 22 when the budget session of the bi-cameral state legislature begins.
