Jalandhar: A family in this Punjab city has been left shattered after it received news that their son was stabbed to death in an unprovoked incident in Glasgow city in Scotland last week. The youth, Kunal Mohanty, 30, was stabbed on Beford street of Glasgow while he was walking with two other friends. Though police have arrested a 20-year-old youth for the murder, no cause has been attributed to the killing. But the incident has left the Mohanty family, including the victim's pregnant wife, shattered. The victim's father, D.K. Mohanty, a retired Border Security Force (BSF) doctor, said that they received news about Kunal's tragedy only Monday from a British police officer on telephone. He added that they could gather more information about the incident only from the Internet. Kunal, a merchant navy officer, had gone to Britain earlier March to appear in an examination. He was scheduled to return early April to be with his pregnant wife. The British media reported the incident and said the victim was attacked and fatally wounded by a bladed weapon. He was rushed to a hospital but could not be saved. The police said there was no evidence of the attack being racially motivated, media reports said. The family is trying to get Kunal's mortal remains back to India.
