J&K to soon have mobile services: Mahajan

Jammu & Kashmir will be on the mobile network as the Pramod Mahajan, union communications minister, assured Mufti Mohammed Sayeed, state chief minister, that mobile services would be launched in the state.

NEW DELHI: Mahajan said Srinagar and Jammu cities would be put on the cellular map of the country after which the facility would be expanded in phases in other districts. He also said the cellular facilities were expected to be launched by April next year. During the meeting, Sayeed also raised the issue of providing Information Technology booths, which would be connected with Internet facilities, at block levels. Mahajan assured Sayeed of all help in this regard and asked the state government to come out with a concrete plan of action, according to agencies report. The Planning Commission has already sanctioned Rs 65 crore for setting up Internet facilities at block levels in the state.
