Bangalore: The Congress seems to be getting increasingly fed up with the regular tantrums of the Trinamool Congress Chief and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and is reportedly pondering on options of new allies. A Congress central minister was quoted as saying to Hindustan Times, “If we become the deciding factor in government formation, we can get new allies at the Centre and reduce our dependence on Trinamool.”

After the constant flare-ups between the two parties on the Lokpal bill, the sharing of Teesta waters and the FDI in retail sector, the latest has been on the renaming of the Indira Bhavan in Kolkata. Mamata’s constant threat to move out of UPA has become a matter of inconvenience to the centre. “We do not want to dump anyone, but then there is a limit to which one party can hold the entire government to ransom just because it has 19 MPs,” a senior Congress general secretary was quoted as saying to DNA.

Mamata known to be a road block on the path to progress and for being a hindrance to the decision making at the centre has always managed to oppose the Congress-led UPA Cabinet in their policies. There was some major opposition seen from her end.
