Intex expects increase in turnover with expansion in operations
Bangalore: Intex Technologies (India) is expecting an increase in turnover in the mobile business by as much as 250 crore. The company is in plans to target the southern parts of the country after establishing its presence in north India. Encouraged by selling 100,000 units per month across the country, the company has set a target of generating 250 crore revenues from sale of mobile handsets. Last year's turnover in the mobile business contributed 30 crore. The total turnover target set for the fiscal year 2009-10 is 800 crore, out of which the mobile business is expected to account for 250 crore by the IT company. Its turnover for the year 2008-09 stood at 460 crore. "We expect a large chunk of revenues to come from our mobile business. Our mobile products are targeted at masses with a price range of 1,800 to 4,000 per unit," said Sanjay Kumar, Deputy General Manager, PC and Telecom, Intex Technologies. Intex has a presence in mobile markets of north, west and east India. "Now, we are looking at southern states. Recently we forayed into Andhra Pradesh and will cover other states in August," said Kumar. Last year, the company sold PCs worth 11 crore in Gujrat, and the target this year is to generate sales of 15 crore from its personal computer (PC) business.
