HYDERABAD: Intel is looking to implement 1,000 Wi-Fi hot spots in India by mid-2004 for various customers and has kicked off a wireless verification programme in the country to improve performance and enable interoperability across these locations. Starting from Hyderabad , the wireless verification programme aims at improving compatibility for Intel Centrino mobile technology in hot spots, Intel India ’s director for solutions group, Shrikant Patil, said here today. The company is working with different wireless LAN service providers to verify and validate the compatibility of Intel Centrino mobile technology-based systems with wireless hotspots, he added. “We are working with leading vendors, network components vendors, telecom operators to make WLAN work in India ”, he said. Intel’s programme also includes signage to help users identify where they can connect wirelessly. The programme informs users that a provider’s network has been verified with Intel Centrino mobile technology. The signage will have four logos of Wi-Fi Zone, Wireless Internet access here, Centrino and Intel displayed at wireless spots.
