Intel 'Rockstar' to showcase future research projects
Bangalore: Intel, the world's largest chip maker set the platform to showcase about 40 future research projects and concepts in a new commercial called "Rock Star", which is a part of the company's current Sponsors of Tomorrow marketing campaign. The projects include areas like eco-technology, 3-D Internet, enterprise IT and wireless mobility. Currently, 'Rock Star' features two researchers - Ajay Bhatt, the Co-inventor of USB and Joshua Smith, a pioneer in wireless power and robotics. "What the researchers are developing today in the Intel labs, will ultimately make future computing and communications faster, easier and more energy efficient, and have a significant impact on people's work and home life in the coming years," said Justin Rattner, Intel's Chief Technology Officer, Vice-President and Director of Intel Labs. "I hope attendees get a chance to speak with and meet our very own rock stars from Intel Labs today." Research innovations displayed at the event, include the Platform Power Management (PPM) to reduce the power consumption in mobile services, immersive connected experiences, mobility and enterprise IT. With the research agendas, Intel aims to improve its overall growth vectors such as mobility, visual computing and system-on-chip design, where several computing and communication functions are placed on a single piece of silicon. The new organization called Intel Labs will recognize game-changing opportunities for tech innovation and deliver breakthrough discoveries in those arenas.
