NEW DELHI: Intel Corporation on Monday announced the expansion of its facilities in Bangalore to include a USD 41 Million new campus which will house designers of world-class technologies in hardware and software design, validation, system engineering and development for next generation microprocessors, semiconductors and memory technologies. The proposed 43-acre facility is expected to house more than 1000 engineers initially. "India continues to play an important role in helping Intel to deliver architectural innovation to our customers by extending our silicon leadership," Ketan Sampat, President, Intel Technology India, said. "In extending our areas of focus in Bangalore, we also hope to contribute in India's quest to become a total IT nation." The announcement builds upon the commitment already made by the Intel India Development Center to help India develop a balanced technology industry. Core product designs for the new Intel Xeon processors in India have begun and Asia's first design team to focus on the enhancement and development of next generation Intel Centrino Mobile Technology has been established at a center in Bangalore.
