BANGALORE: President and chief operating officer Intel Paul Otellini will visit Bangalore next week to explore opportunities to expand the company's activities, the firm said on Wednesday. Otellini will visit the country's financial capital Mumbai on June 9 and Bangalore the following day, a statement said. "During his visit, Otellini will meet with government, industry and business leaders to explore strategies that will help India continue to benefit from the economic and productivity advantages of widespread IT deployment," it said. In Mumbai, Otellini will deliver a speech highlighting India's need to extend its information technology leadership beyond software and strengthen its competence in value-added enterprise services and hardware design. He will also stress the benefits of adopting wireless technology and its growing significance for global business. In Bangalore, he will visit the new Intel India Development Centre campus. Last month, Karnataka approved an Intel plan to build the $41-million centre which will create 3,000 jobs. Intel, which designs chips in India for switches and routers used in directing Internet traffic, also plans to start design work for its Pentium and Xeon processors in the country.
