Innovative Startups Awarded at Delhi's Startup City

Delhi: In an earnest attempt to highlight the potential and opportunities that awaited entrepreneurs in the making, Startup City-- an event conducted by SiliconIndia on November 5, 2011 at Delhi, brought together Startups from all over India.

Amshuhu (Learn and Publish) Ahoy Telecom and Hello Hello Technologies were declared the 'Best Startup Company' as part of the competition in which close to 13 startups competed for the title.

The startups judged for their innovation, technology, creativity and novelty of the idea were evaluated by the eminent jury panel which consisted of Anshoo Sharma , Senior Associate, Light Speed, Mohit Bhatnagar, MD, Sequoia Capital, T C Meenakshisundaram, Founder and MD , IDG Ventures India, Ritesh Banglani, VP, Helion Ventures, and Gaurav Saraf, from  Epiphany Ventures.

Kunwer Sachdev, Founder and MD, Su-Kam delivered the Inaugural Keynote on his Entrepreneurial Journey, and attendees were treated to three panel discussions of intelligent insight.

The key areas of the event were focus on Internet Entrepreneurs, Concepts for startup success, and opportunities for startups.The first session titled “New Paths to Online Revenue: Journey of Internet Entrepreneurs” had Anisha Singh (Co Founder and CEO of Mydala.com) and Yogesh Bansal - Founder and CEO of ApnaCircle.com) sharing their experience and Vikhyat S, the co Founder of Groffr.com moderated the panel.

The second session revolved around the “Concept to Success: Milestones for startups”, which had Sanjay Purohit – Founder Director and CEO of iProf,  Jagdish Mitra – CEO of Canvasm,  Kalpesh Desai – CEO of Agile Financial Technologies, and Sanjay Sinha - Cofounder and MD of Leeway Logistics as panelists. Their views were moderated by Abhishek Sinha – CEO of Eko.

The panel titled “Opportunities for entrepreneurs in 2012 and Mistakes Entrepreneurs make when approaching VCs” had Mohit Bhatnagar - MD of Sequoia Capital, Anshoo Sharma - Senior Associate of Light Speed, T C Meenakshisundaram - Founder and MD of IDG Ventures India, and  Ritesh Banglani - Vice President of Helion Ventures as panelists while Gaurav Saraf- Director of Epiphany Ventures as the panel’s moderator.

This one day interactive conference hosted a blend of startups showcasing their ideas in the exhibit area, which saw an influx of attendees who were a mix of innovators, investors, venture capitalists and it was supported by SmartTechie which was the media partner.

All in all, it was a great platform for the startups to put their best foot forward.
