Innovation Redefined in Rural India

Indian villages have proved their excellence by making extraordinary inventions. Despite many limitations like lack of education and severe cash crisis, but most of them have succeeded in using technology cost-effectively to build ingenious products, reports rediff Business.

The products were exhibited at Rashtrapati Bhavan and President Pratibha Patil inaugurated the three day exhibition. The exhibition was organized by the National Innovation Foundation (NIF), a grant-in-aid institute under the Department of Science and Technology (DST).

Gopal Bhise has made a very useful device for ploughing culture operation in very small farm plots, gardens and kitchen gardens. He has fixed a rod with a blade at the end, to an assembly consisting of only the front wheel and the handle of a bicycle. He said economic frustration to even buy a pair of bullocks led him develop this device.

1: There should be a forum on Problems faced by people/machines etc doing different operations.So that Maximum people can use their mind and develop an inovative thing which is useful for mankind.As mentioned by Dr.Jagadeesh,Gum boots or Flexible Socks...

2: Why not we design a cap(Conical) on the lines of Thailand(Farmers) and easy to walk Gum Boot for Farm labour who transplant rice. Because of constant dipping of feet and fingers,there will be fungus formation. Unfortunately most of the rural farm labour apply kerosene to cure it.

3: Congratulations Rural Innovators. Yes. There are geniuses everywhere. Only thing is we have to nurture them and encourage them to fructify their innovations and inventions.As I always suggest an INNOVATORS FUND(Through private Industries and organisations) can be created to help INNOVATORS to realise their dreams. Though there are NRDC,NIF,TePP(DSIR), these are piecemeal in a vast country like ours.
