Inmage raises $10M in Series B funding

Santa Clara, CA: Kumar Malavalli and Rajeev Atluri co- founded Inmage, a provider of data protection software for medium and large enterprises has raised a $10 million in the second round of funding. The round that closed two weeks back was led by existing investors Hummer Winblad Venture Partners, and an anonymous strategic corporate partner. According to the company, the list of strategic partners includes some interesting possibilities: HP, IBM, Pillar Data, Quantum, RedHat, Sungard, Symantec, VMware and Xiotech, as well as integrators iStreet Solutions and Solidcore. Except the unnamed new corporate entity all investors had contributed to Inmage's previous round. The start-up's total funding is $17.3 million. Founded in 2001, the company has about 100 employees. It claims over 100 customers. John Ferraro, President and CEO, says that the firm is getting 40 customers a quarter and plans to grow its roster to 200 takers by the end of this year.
