BANGALORE: India’s second largest IT exporter Infosys became the fourth Indian company—the second in private sector— to cross the 1 trillion market cap. With this the Bangalore headquartered company has joined the ranks with market leaders like Oil and Natural Gas Corporation, Reliance Industries and National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC). The market capitalization of India’s first Nasdaq listed firm crossed the 1 trillion market cap on Thursday. Only two other IT companies have crossed the 1 trillion market cap in recent years. They are TCS and Wipro however both of them are now trailing Infosys in the m-cap race. Mumbai headquartered TCS, India’s biggest IT company by sales, had hit the Rs 1 trillion on April 18, but has fallen down since then. It is now hovering around 974 billion. Bangalore based IT giant; Wipro, India’s third largest IT exporter had hit the 2 trillion market cap on February 2, 2000.
